Tshepiso Chikapa Phiri

Tshepiso Has Over A Period Of 18 Years Achieved An Illuminating And Successful Career as an entrepreneur. Her business interests range from businesses in oil and gas, logistics, health care, manufacturing, entertainment, communications and advertising.

 

She graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science.  She went on to study for her Honours in brand communications and strategy at Vega School of Brand Communications.

 

She started her career at the world-famous NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL, in 2002 as Marketing coordinator and two years later was promoted to Head of Media and Marketing for the Cape Town franchise of the North Sea Jazz Festival. Tshepiso was fortunate to work with the Dutch company Mojo Concert in Holland on their version of the North Sea Jazz Festival which remains a world class event.

 

Her career experience from then on spanned from international music events, media and marketing, to advertising agency client relations – ORD (Cape Town), film festival Director (SITHENGI FILM FESTIVAL – CAPE TOWN), magazine publishing (CREATED NUBIAN BRIDE MAGAZINE WITH BALLYHOO MEDIA-JHB), brand activation (KWV – IMOYA, REMY MARTIN, GLENFIDDICH, MTN, STANDARD BANK, SABC and many more), project management (MISS WORLD 2008, SANAA ARTS, REMY MARTIN - CANNES FILM FESTIVAL) Festival, sponsorship acquisition and management, producing television drama (Zone 14 - SABC 1) and sport documentary producer (My Beautiful Game – Super Sport 3) and feature film marketing (SURVIVING EVIL STARRING BILLY ZANE AND COLLIN MOSS, BLITZ PATROLLIE 2013 FEATURING DAVID KAU, KAGISO LEDIGA AND JOEY RASDENE, TELL ME SOMETHING SWEET DIRECTED BY AKIN AMOTOSO STARRING NOMZAMO MBATHA AND MAPS MAPONYA). She has toured extensively around the world with South African Music Artists the likes of JIMMY DLUDLU, JUDITH SEPHUMA, ZIM NGQAWANA, WINSTON MANKUKU NGOZI, AND HUGH MASEKELA marketing their music at various international jazz and music festivals. She is a managing trustee of the Gerald Sekoto Foundation.

 

Tshepiso is a truly pioneering entrepreneur who has invested vastly in her businesses.  She is friendly, committed and a creative businesswoman. She has a business portfolio that is varied, she finds it exciting to play in various industries and enable her constant growth. Creating employment for the youth and upskilling South African youth who are willing and able to work is one of her passions and a key pillar of her business strategy. Joining as a founding member of Women In Aviation and Logistics was a no brainer for Tshepiso, it meant she could contribute in an industry that has ample room for her to gain knowledge, pursue her passion to get more women especially young women to become economic participants and beneficiaries in this space. She brings to the team her unwavering experiencing in communications and business development. Her ability to work closely with young people and develop their core skills to build concrete careers and businesses in the sectors her businesses operate in will see Women in Aviation and Logistics increase  leadership of women in Aviation and Logistics.
